So I have been using itunes for a little while now and I feel like i got a pretty good handle on managing my music through itunes. I know that a lot of people do not feel the same way at all around here. I was wondering why you think itunes sucks? And what your using instead? I know that there are a lot of alternatives out there songbird, play, foobar, winamp.
I just prefer iTunes because in my opinion it has the best podcast support, the best store hands down, and its the easiest way to organize your music, download album art, and create playlists. I also share it between multiple profiles, my girlfriend and I share a common library so we can share playcounts, purchases, and we just like to share in general. I understand my needs are special, and thats why I choose the right tool for the job.
Let me know what you guys use and what you think of itunes in general. Its the big guy on the block now so id like to hear your thoughts.
I totally agree. itunes has the best podcasts/store… AND is easily the most aesthetically pleasing software for your music – which is something Mac has mastered. Although, I will admit, that itunes sometimes lacks my essential music meta data. Which can be an issue for serious music collections – I recently got hired at a software company called TuneUp that does a fantastic job at organizing my itunes collection. Have you tried anything other itunes-organizing apps? You should check out TuneUp- Its got a lot of great features and works automatically with itunes.
Let me know what you think: http://www.tuneupmedia.com
Thanks for the post. Ciao
i’ma check it…i hate itunes/wmp/winamp/etc.
i use nero pro, winamp, and itunes (protection bullshit)…for recording and what not i use Audacity
oh and the emusic manager for my downloads, i have a monthly account, it lets you re-download any song you bought anytime, from any computer, for no extra charge….does itunes still charge to re-download a song?
oh and sirius satellite player add-on for firefox….lol
iTunes has never charged me to re-download anything. But i Have only done it once. Because i kinda blew up a harddrive and had no backup. But i did have to contact them and explain the situation. They sure don’t let you download all willy nilly.
Its real nice for management, podcasting and making genius playlist. I fully switched over to using iTunes for everything.
I am using Zune software and its also easy to mannage my music. I tried itunes a while back but had software issue and it didn’t want to install on my windows xp. I currently using Zune software to mannage my pod cast and organize my music and buy from the market place and foobar everyday listenning like mp3 and streams since its better coded then winamp.
I use the zune software its great. look into it.. ipods are way over rated..
Does the zune software work in osx? Or for an iphone?
itunes…where do I begin….
In windows I use winamp, why? cause I’m not in windows alot and if I am and want to play music , its great. mostly due to the fact that it can play all my formats.
When I am in osx, well …things get hairy. Itunes is good, but it is not great. If I could play all my music formats in it I would be much happier. To manage music it’s not bad at all. but as a player , it kinda sucks.
So, in osx i tend to use a program called ToolPlayer.
I cant wait until amarok is out of beta for osx, because it was the best player i have ever used. And it was made for linux.
